Case Study: ABC Industries
A startup client working on a B2G SaaS product was taking bids for a large-scale, AI/ML software development build. They had a large budget and a strong sales team working on pre-orders, but they lacked internal technical expertise and needed to outsource development. Although the full build was out-of-scope for our in-house development, we were brought in by ABC (as we’ll call them) to assess each bid’s timeline, realism, and pricing, because they had no means to assess the credibility of each bidding team on their own.
Solveware’s technical specialists also sat in on each external meeting, alongside ABC’s decision-makers, to probe the technical depth of the bidding team and ensure the right questions were being asked, before our client potentially made any financial commitments. As it turned out, several of the bidding teams had limited understanding of the AI/ML concepts they proposed to implement, and, when pressed, could not make any reasonable assurances from first principles that their development would even work, let alone meet the timeframe specified. Over the course of our engagement, Solveware was able to refine ABC’s internal plans, such that subsequent bids relied less on the architectural planning of outsourced development teams and more on their actual strongsuit: implementation.
